Jaylen Brown announces hip hop album under name Jaythoven

After getting some publicity for dropping rhymes in his own head to get psyched for games, Jaylen Brown is taking his music to the streets.

On a panel with NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin, Jaylen announced he is dropping an album soon under the name Jaythoven.

“They call me Jaythoven cause I be on the keys,” he said. “ATL stand up.”

He’s already been blessed by Lil’ B the Based God and has long-time relationships with ATL rap legends like Gucci Mane and Future so the hip hop pedigree is strong with the Marietta, Georgia native.

“I make different types of sounds, so not every sound sounds the same,” Brown told Slam Magazine in January. “Like trap beats, I don’t just make a whole bunch of trap beats. I might make a few ’cause that’s what I’m feeling today, like I feel like making a banger or some Metro Boomin’-type stuff. Another day I may feel like slowing it down and making some Dilla-type beats or something smooth, something classic, New York-esque or something similar to that. It depends. It’s just based on how I feel when I wake up in the morning or when I dive into it. I don’t do it every day, but when I get into it I, can be into it for hours at a time, and time will just fly by.”

There’s no release date yet, but the streets will be on lock.

“It’s coming soon,” he said. “You’ll see some of the album covers on Instagram. It’s coming soon.”

Jaythoven season is coming.

Brown has been producing for awhile now, but this will be his first album with him actually on the mic. Here’s a sample of his work on the MPC via Slam Magazine.
